My sole reason for starting this blog is to give myself a creative outlet. It is very possible that no one will ever stumble upon my blog or read it… and I am ok with that!  However, if I do have some readers, welcome, and thank you stopping by  🙂

A little about me….

I am 31, and work full time as a catering director for a restaurant in Dallas. I got married just last year to a wonderful man. We also bought our first home last year, in a suburb of Dallas… Let me tell you, planning a wedding, and buying a house in the same year is no piece of cake! Our wallets are still crying. Our current family consists of the two of us, our basset hound Toby, and our 2 cats Addy and Jarvis. We plan to start growing our family in the very near future… It’s no secret, I have baby fever! 

I am creative, and itch for projects big and small (another reason for the blog). Sometimes it drives my husband nuts, but he always appreciates the outcome. He is also pretty handy, so we make a good team.

I am at the stage in my life where everyone I know is getting married, and having babies. You know what that means? Showers and parties must be planned! Many of my posts will be about upcoming celebrations I am planning.

I am an avid reader of mystery thrillers and other nonfiction books. My mom and I pass books back and forth to share the ones we enjoy. I do not have a ton of free time as it is, but I usually prefer a good book over TV when relaxing.

I enjoy cooking, and try to cook as often as I can when my work schedule is not crazy. My husband also cooks (pretty well actually) so sometimes I get to sit back and relax with a glass of wine while he does all the work  😉 I hope to share some of our favorite recipes, and dishes that we love.

My hope for this blog is that its content will evolve with me and my family as we grow, and as I mature as a person through the different stages in my life. I hope that writing it will be good exercise for my creative brain and fun to write. Last, and at the very least, I hope that it will be enjoyable for others to read.

Why “Crafty Basset”?

I love to craft things, and I MIGHT be a little obsessed with my basset hound. 

The above picture is an engagement shot of my husband and I with Toby. It is my most favorite picture, and it makes my heart happy.
